When you vote against the poor, vote for the wealthy, vote against the sick, the disabled, the hungry.and convince yourself that's what God wants and teaches. I know alot of Christians (myself included) that see what Romney is and what he represents. Hopefully these congregations will see these 'people' for what they really are.

The original principal behind allowing tax exempt status to churches was that churches use to provide services for the community like food pantries, homeless shelters, schools, and other social ideals. There gifts to the community far outweighed any taxes that would be received. But, since the invention of the mega churches and media preachers.the church has turned away from providing basic community needs, instead they have turned to shear profits on there latest book tour or tv show.

I say reinstate the taxes for churches, but give them tax breaks that could equal tax exemption for quality community service like homeless shelters, unwed mother's day care, hospitals, schools, and prison rehabilitation programs. If you don't believe me check out some of the mega churches websites on what community involvement they have.one in Houston only provides meals to 400 homeless once a day five days a week with a total congregation of 40k+.that is just disgusting. That church promotes seminars on financial wealth and jazzercize classes more than they promote charity and community service. The Lord said it's not out there, it's in here'Follow me.' God is trying to reach us, but the signal is jammed by the noise of the outer world and the static of our thoughts. The soul longs to return to this place, its true home. So close and yet so far! This is the journey to consciousness.

We have lost our way, looking for something we can't find because it isn't there. Everything is made of matter: A vivid projection of All-Mind; the spellbinding manifestation of our collective thoughts and desires, impulses and sense impressions. I was most fortunate to see Master in Philadelphia forty-five years ago. In 1972, I was invited by friends to the Warwick Hotel to see a guru from India touring the west.

I suppose I was a seeker, but I wasn't much interested in gurus or even religion for that matter, just a bored college student looking for answers. So I went.The ballroom was crowded with his devotees. I could not even make out the words he spoke, but at one point I thought he was looking at me, a gaze so piercing I had to turn away. I didn't understand any of it.

What was a master anyway? All I saw was a man with a beard wearing a turban. When the strange affair ended we left the Warwick and I thought little of it.

I never saw him again.Somehow he noticed me in that crowd: Soon after I received a sudden bolt of terrific power from within! I was never the same. I knew there was God and God knows who I am. He knows who you are too.Master left his body two years later in 1974.

Even after all these years there is still much I don't know about him. We are privileged to have his images, writings and recordings preserved on internet sites devoted to this enlightened Sant, or Satguru. (See post: 'The Orient Express'). Christ existed long before Jesus. Jesus was the man born, who perfectly manifested the Christ in Himself, the Divine Nature. Thus Christ in Jesus, the spiritual human, existed long before His earthly birth.God-Power appears from time to time at the human pole to guide the child-humanity back to God. The question is: Who can give us the way back to God?

No son of man can do it. God alone gives us contact with Him. He has no equal; no brother, no father, no mother; and that God resides in every heart. Do you follow now, how great He was? He was this God-Power manifest at the human pole, but he always differentiated between the son of man and the Father in Him. Other Masters, Guru Nanak and Kabir, expounded this same Truth in their own languagesBecause we are not aware of the teachings of other Masters, we may think perhaps the words of Jesus are the only truth. However, Truth is One.

Truth is clothed in Light, the music of all harmonies. Masters in the past referred to it. The Sikh Scriptures contain the same assertion: 'The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.' They said the Word was personified in human form and guided the embodied soul giving it contact with God. I have respect for all human poles at which that Christ-Power dwells from time to time.Do you comprehend? God-Power, Christ-Power or Guru-Power is the same, and manifests Itself at the human pole to meet the demands of His children: those who feel hungry for Him, those who feel thirsty for Him.

There is food for the hungry and water for the thirsty; demand and supply is the law of nature, and where fire burns, oxygen comes to help. When man has hunger for God in his heart, God manifests Himself at some human pole to guide the child-humanity. 'No man knows the Father except through the Son and he to whom the Son reveals Him.' Jesus said: 'Except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom cometh not with observation but is within you.' By observation is meant the outgoing faculties. God is Spirit and we must pray to God in Spirit alone. God does not reside in temples made by man, but in the God-made temple of man. Jesus said: 'Because I live, ye shall live also.'

He was not referring to the outer son of man but to the inner, which gives Light and the Way back to God through Love. Jesus clearly said that no man knows the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son reveals Him. That Son, the Light of God exists forever.Son-ship continues. The sum of all that I have to convey to you is that Christ lived as the Man-body of Jesus, at whose pole He appeared, and that He resides in every heart.

Yet He cannot be realized by mere feelings, emotions, drawing inferences, or intellectual wrestling to arrive at a conclusion. It is a matter of seeing God, Who He Is. Christ said, 'I am the Light of the World.' Can you see this Light? He went on to say, 'The Light of the body is the eye: If thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of Light.' There were few such Personalities in the past, and even now there are few but the world is not without Them.

All humanity are the children of these Masters. This same God-Power has been working ever since the world began, and continues for those who are hungry and seek the Truth. God, Who resides in every heart, makes arrangements to bring that person to wherever they can be duly contacted with the true Self.The true definition of a Master given by all Masters, is One Who can make audible for you the music of the spheres and remove the veil of darkness you see when you close your eyes to reveal the Light of God. Such a person is called a Master.We have regard for that perpetual Christ-Power which existed before his birth and continues after it.

Son-ship is perpetual. That power lies in every heart and is revealed when a human pole at which the Power is manifest, meets us and gives us a contact with God. When we meet them, Masters are competent to raise our souls from the bondage of the mind and the outgoing faculties, and give us contact within. Such human poles which give us that Christ-Power come from time to time. We are then, fortunate to be gathered here on this blessed Christmas.The Masters do not destroy any religion or introduce new ones.

When They come, They come for the whole world. They consider all humans alike and want us to unravel this mystery of the Man-body. Great is man. He lives in this body in which God controls him; and within the microcosm of it, exists the macrocosm. We know so much about the outer subjects but, for want of practical people, we know little or nothing about ourselves. This is the great boon, the blessing we have in the form of the Man-body. E Here Now.Steve Jobs said he was greatly affected by this book, published in 1971 by Ram Dass. The author's real name was Richard Alpert, PhD. It's the story of Alpert's transformation from straight-laced Harvard psychology professor to a man on a quest for consciousness. What he found resulted in this book, a sort of how-to for the turned-on generation: Western Psychedelic Zen.At Harvard, Alpert met another clinical psychologist, Timothy Leary, PhD (1920-1996).

The two headed up the Harvard Psychedelic Project in the early 1960's following Leary's profound experience taking the psilocybin mushroom while vacationing in Mexico. He returned to Boston breathless, saying he just learned more in a few hours than all his years as a psychologist! A pure, pharmaceutical synthetic was ordered from Sandoz Laboratories for the research project. For the time being, the university permitted the clinical program. Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert at Harvard.Psilocybin was administered to a broad class of subjects, including divinity students, clergymen, artists, writers, intellectuals even inmates at Concord State Prison.

Data was carefully collected and analyzed, what the subjects reported experiencing during their 'trip.' But there was really no vocabulary at the time to articulate this new frontier of inner science. The experiments were an astonishing breakthrough in consciousness. But then a mishap occurred.

Undergraduates requested to participate: A breach of clinical protocol. C 20H 25N 3O (Ho fmann holding the molecular model of LSD).The relatively gentle effects of psilocybin were no match for the shattering discovery of LSD, also known as acid. D-lysergic acid diethylamide- 25 is the most powerful chemical known to man: Colorless, odorless, tasteless, so potent it is measured in micro-grams. It is derived from lysergic acid, which is found in the ergot fungus that grows on rye and other grains. Albert Hofmann, a chemist at Sandoz Laboratories, Switzerland, discovered the LSD molecule by accident in 1943. He called it, 'my problem child.'

It gained widespread interest, but not all of it was positive. 'High Priest,' published in 1968 was Leary's first book, followed by 'The Politics of Ecstasy.' LSD is not a drug in the usual sense, it doesn't 'drug' you. In many subjects it mimics the sought for ecstatic religious experience; the beatific vision described by mystics. In 1963, when the two men were fired from their posts at Harvard, the scandalous doctors continued their exciting research at Millbrook, in upstate NY. A steady pilgrimage of seekers, even celebrities came to this place to find themselves.

What happened here is an amazing story in itself. The Hitchcock estate in New York was generously provided.Psychedelic.From the Greek ψυχή (psyche, soul, mind) and δηλείν (delein, to manifest). Hence, soul-manifesting.

Aldous Huxley, (1894-1963) wrote 'The Doors of Perception,' his personal account of taking mescaline. (The title was adopted by the rock group 'The Doors'). Huxley suggested his own coinage phanerothyme (phaneroein, 'visible' plus thymos, 'soul').

Thus visible soul. While tripping, Huxley was driven around Hollywood where he lived. (far right): Surveying Los Angeles from atop a hill.The Mystery of Death and Rebirth.Dr. Leary discovered that the trip, a duration of anywhere from eight to twelve hours, was identical to that described as the three bardos in the 'Tibetan Book of the Dead.' He authored his own version of the ancient text based on the psychedelic experience, along with Alpert and Ralph Metzner, PhD., a third part of this trio.These chemicals can facilitate a spiritual or mystical experience, one which is indistinguishable from similar descriptions found in the sacred scriptures of the great religions and the ancient mystery schools. LSD is clinically valuable by alleviating the fear and anxiety of dying, by providing insight towards the inevitable transition awaiting the terminally ill. The experience can give peace of mind to the patient by realizing that life is a continuum. There is nothing to fear, energy never dies it only changes form.

('Generating the divine within'). An entheogen is a psychoactive substance used in a religious, shamanic, or spiritual context that may be synthesized or obtained from natural sources. It facilitates an experience aimed at spiritual development. It is now the preferred term to denote the use of psychedelic drugs in a spiritual, mystical context- and to make the distinction from mere recreational use as party drugs. Psychedelic drugs are non-addictive, and there is no evidence to support long term harm on mental health. In 1968, possession of LSD was made illegal in the United States. Pursuant to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, LSD is a Schedule I drug. This means it is illegal to manufacture, buy, possess, process, or distribute without a license from the DEA.

A Schedule I substance meets the following three criteria: a). It is deemed to have a high potential for abuse; b). It has no legitimate medical use in treatment; c). There is a lack of accepted safety for its use under medical supervision. Not a single one of these criteria matches LSD, or even cannabis- also a Schedule I drug.

But alcohol, far more toxic and destructive can be purchased at the corner store. Advocating the use of LSD, and the unfortunate incident at Harvard gained Leary sudden and unexpected notoriety, along with hatred.

There is an unseen inner universe, a macrocosm within us. These inner realms are seldom experienced because the outer senses are riveted to the world of matter, a fake prop set of conditioning and belief systems imposed on us since birth.

We are never informed of any other existence. The self-preserving ego isolates us from God.

Apart from awakening, or becoming aware of our True Self, life is wasted on purely temporal pursuits: Survival, procreation, pleasure and the production and advancement of the hive. We are not encouraged to explore who we really are, but instead to play it safe, believe what you're told and don't ask questions. Consciousness expanding drugs, particularly cannabis, threaten the status quo. Mass is Equal to Light. What we see is a screen of atoms, but filtered by the mind. Because it vibrates slowly, mass feels solid and appears dull, monochromatic like watching black and white television. We view an artificial stage production shaped by centuries of reinforcement: A commercial for the fragile ego, aware only of itself, rarely giving thought to its Creator.

If this filter is removed, like the passing of an eclipse, the lens of the eye is fully exposed to the rapidly vibrating light of energy which comprises mass. The Planes of Existence. During a psychedelic experience, the process is reversed in a round-trip. The subject becomes a time traveler, returning to the beginning.

Exploring the cellular DNA and molecular vine, the astral planes of the imagination, past the the causal levels to the Light at the Center of Being, or atman: What we really are. Somewhat the same objective as yoga and meditation, but like an expressway psychedelics quickly bypass these disciplines transporting you to a front row seat watching creation happen- which is always now. Synthesia occurs when we 'hear' colors and 'see' sounds.

What appears to us as a chaotic world of separation is actually the melding of a determined order of events. Whatever happens is the way it happens.

Whether or not you are involved it will happen anyway. The controlling ego keeps us dancing like a marionette. If you let go and step out for a bit, you will see the universe as it really is: A precise mechanism. This includes your life. No amount of anxiety makes any difference as to what is going to happen.

No coincidences, no accidents, that's just how it looks from our limited vantage point. 'We're the generation your parents warned you about!' - Grace Slick, Woodstock.' Turn on, tune in, drop out.'

Timothy Leary rapidly became the celebrated guru of a younger generation: An unprecedented revolution of mostly white, middle-class youth protesting war and government. He was a pariah to the establishment class which declared war on the psychologist. Gordon Liddy, prosecutor at the time for Duchess County, NY, was hiding in the bushes spying on the Millbrook estate. He led a Keystone-cop raid on the mansion hoping to find 'evidence.' Nothing of any culpability was found. Liddy went on to gain notoriety as Richard Nixon's henchman in the Watergate scandal.

Timothy Leary was now considered public enemy number one. But he was never without a smile. United States, (1969), is a case dealing with the of the., a professor and activist, was arrested for the possession of in violation of the Marijuana Tax Act.

Leary challenged the act on the ground that the act required, which violated the. The unanimous opinion of the court was penned by Justice and declared the Marijuana Tax Act unconstitutional.

Thus, Leary's conviction was overturned. Congress responded shortly thereafter by replacing the Marijuana Tax Act with the newly written while continuing the prohibition of certain drugs in the United States. The daughter of popular television personality, Art Linkletter, jumped to her death while tripping, thinking she could fly. Looking for someone to blame, he held Dr. Leary personally responsible and went about publicly condemning him in a vendetta until the day he died.

Confusion happens because time and space are non-existent outside of our own world. A safe, initial experience should involve the accompaniment of a trusted guide: Someone familiar with the effects of the chemical as the subject can be vulnerable entering new corridors of the mind. Years later, the two arch-rivals Liddy and Leary became friends, and went on a joint speaking tour together in 1982.Alan Watts (1915-1973), was ordained as an Episcopal priest at the age of thirty in 1945, then resigned the ministry five years later in 1950. Along with the group of other early explorers of consciousness, Watts went through a transformation, rejecting established ideas about God, religion and dogma. He turned to Zen and esoteric Christianity. Like his friend and colleague, author Aldous Huxley, Alan Watts was among this group experimenting with psychedelics. He gained wide popularity among Western intellectuals as a lecturer and writer, but was considered an outsider to academia.

(See post: Philosophy by Watts.). It's hardly a coincidence that at the same time physicists were working on the secret bomb project aptly named 'Trinity,' LSD was discovered by a Swiss chemist. The awsome power of the atom was unleashed internally and externally at the same moment in history: It could be used to create or destroy. A renaissance of interest in psychedelics is currently happening. People are rediscovering the original ideas of these brave pioneers from decades ago, with a new perspective.

The chemicals themselves are merely tools, but there's a catch- you still come down, kicked out of paradise until the next time- no more 'enlightened' than the next person. There is no destination, it's only a sightseeing trip. A postcard from home.On Dying.Ram Dass is 'Still Here,' the title of the book he was working on when he suffered a stroke. We are human beings, with mortal bodies and eternal souls. Both Ram Dass and Aldous Huxley have written on the subject of dying. What actually happens? Why do we fear this fundamental event of transition? You don't really 'go' anywhere.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead' was a description of what to expect: Three separate stages, called bardos. Entheogens give a preview beyond the veil, a dress rehearsal of the dying experience: Watching a loved one shed this body and be reborn afresh and new. That loved one is you. Time to rest now.

Once larger than life, Timothy Leary is surrounded by family and friends during his last moments dying of cancer in 1996. Arrangements were made for his cremated remains to be placed on board a NASA rocket and scattered in outer space. Because I AM is a verb, it is motion- positive, or 'male.' God is the Light of Intelligence- Eternal Mind: He is Self-Existent and never ceases to Be. He needs nothing, the entire universe is His House. He is the Source of all things manifest. Being unseen and without manifest, the only way to know about Him was through signs and symbols. His desire is to make Himself known to man, created in His Image.

The disclosure of the All-Being happened gradually, through dispensations and chosen vessels. Seeing the suffering of mankind, in due time He sent a reproduction of His Person.4:59The Bible is a book basically about one thing: Jesus Christ. Otherwise there is no story to tell, no need for the prophets. In Bible times copies of the scriptures were rare and cherished. The law and prophets were studied by learned rabbis and read orally in synagogues. Following the Babylonian captivity, expectations grew of the coming of a messiah, a great deliverer.

I was nineteen and studying painting in Philadelphia. Eastern mysticism had come from the oriental to the occidental world, and was beginning to attract wide attention among my generation of baby-boomers, born after the end of WWII.

We were called 'Children of the Bomb.' The art college scene was a fertile place for seekers, and like many others I was searching too. Something was missing from my life, my art was mediocre and I wasn't satisfied.I had no interest in Zen or Hinduism. I was raised in Quakerism and my father was Jewish. On a bright autumn morning I was invited by my older brother and a close friend of his to see a famous guru from India making his third and final tour of the west: Sant Kirpal Singh was appearing at the Warwick Hotel in downtown Philly. That morning I was given a book to read: 'Be Here Now' by Ram Dass.

The gathering was called a satsang. As we entered the ballroom the atmosphere was electric, crowded with hundreds of his devoted followers. We were able to find three seats. Holding my new book, I thought to myself What is a master anyway? I had absolutely no idea.He was already seated onstage. There was a microphone too, but I couldn't make out the words he spoke.

I didn’t get any of it. Why all the fuss?

He was just an old man with a beard wearing a turban. The strange affair was uneventful, except at one point I thought he was staring at me. When it was over we left the hotel pushing our way through the mob. I thought nothing of it.

The following afternoon I finished my classes and walked to Penn Center Terminal to catch the train home. Speeding along, I was quietly reading- when I was suddenly jolted with terrific power! Waves of light and energy flooded every atom of my being, along with a genuine happiness I never knew existed. I was incredibly glad just to be alive!

In an instant my entire attitude about life shifted away from myself to the family of God. I felt great compassion for all beings. I wanted to shake everyone's hand!Was this happening to everyone or just me? I looked at the other passengers sitting in the coach, calmly reading the newspaper, chatting, staring out the window at leaves changing color- all seemingly unaffected by the sudden bolt of Power. So where had it come from?

It came from within! Like a lightning strike, it was the Master.My thoughts were suddenly interrupted. Shouted the conductor. I jumped up from my seat, gathered my books and raced down the aisle barely getting off in time. In a daze, I watched as the train departed, disappearing into the distance leaving me behind. This was my stop. I was here now.What just happened?

I wasn't quite sure. Was this enlightenment? Not even close! The long journey to consciousness had only just begun. I had been shown a little bit of what that’s like, just a crumb from the master’s table. Oh, what a crumb that was!

For seven days I enjoyed total peace, thoughtful insight and delightful euphoria, during which time I did not sleep at all, but was never tired.When the bliss subsided I returned to whoever I was before the event, just a bored college student with a weird story nobody was interested in hearing. I knew I had experienced something very powerful, it was burned forever into my mind! But what was I supposed to do with it? My older brother, the one who had taken me to the Warwick that day was waiting in the wings. He had known about this for years and began explaining it to me. The first thing he taught me was this: We are dreaming!

Everything, our lives, is created out of thought, our own thoughts. Just like when we sleep at night: We wake up we realize it was all just a vivid dream.This brief lifetime is only one of many thought forms we inhabit over cosmic time. There is a plan, and it is ultimately about each soul finding its way home. Each experience is only another train stop, lessons to be learned, some of it very difficult.

We suffer because we think our pain is real. But when it passes we are always still here. That's because we are conscious spirit, without form, eternal, infinite and indestructible. No matter how bad, nothing can ever change or harm us permanently!Everything we say, think or do has an effect on the universe, like dropping a pebble into a pond. These actions and reactions accumulate, forming the pattern which becomes our life story. Over much time these must play out, and by the time they do we have no recollection of the words, thoughts or actions which initially set them in motion. Once this is understood, we begin to live consciously with more awareness, in harmony with the rest of the universe.

Learning to treat others with respect and reacting less out of attachment and selfishness. If I hurt you I hurt me, we are all evolving together as a single being.' The Masters are not the monopoly of anyone, they come for everyone, not for one group of humanity or another. They give a knowledge which is beyond the senses, which is an ocean of intoxication – a mighty effulgence of bliss. This bliss is within each human being, but has been suppressed by the mind and the senses, and is therefore not enjoyed.'
